ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

SCOPE: This programme is run by Indira Gandhi National Open University and St. Xavier’s Technical Institute is the only Tele Learning Centre of IGNOU in Mumbai. Students who successfully complete ADIT are eligible for direct admission to the 2nd Year MCA of IGNOU.

The admissions are conducted by IGNOU with an entrance test. The teaching is done from Delhi to a “virtual classroom” spread across the country. The Tele Learning Centre at X-TECH has a direct satellite link to receive the live video broadcast of the lecture with the audio link to New Delhi for students’ questions on the spot.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Degree from a recognised University.

DURATION: 3 Trimesters (1 year)

Courses offered in 1st trimester :

Foundation in Information Technology : Information System – Hardware; Information Software; Information System – Software Engineering; Operating Systems.

Computing : An Object Oriented Approach : Introduction to Object Oriented Concepts; Object Oriented Programming Language; Object Oriented Analysis and Design.

Data Structures and Algorithms : Basic Data Structures; Advanced Data Structures; Sorting and Merging Techniques.

Visual Programming : Visual Objects and Application Design; Visual Development Environment.

 

Courses offered in 2nd trimester :

Component Programming : COM & DCOM Basics; Building Distributed, Scalable Applications with COM Part I; Building Distributed, Scalable Applications with COM Part II.

Data Communication and Computer Networking : Data Communication and Networking Basics; MAC & Data Link Layer Network, Transport (TCP/IP) & Application Layer.

Relational Database Management Systems : Introduction to the Relational Model; Normalisation and Query Processing; Recovery, Concurrency Management and Database Security.

Advanced Topics in Software Engineering : Software Project Management; Software Quality; CASE Tools and Environment.
