BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

SCOPE: This degree programme is run by Indira
Gandhi National Open University and St. Xavier’s Technical
Institute is the only Tele Learning Centre of IGNOU in
Mumbai. Students who successfully complete BIT are
eligible for direct admission to the 2nd Year MCA of IGNOU.
Students also have an option to apply for HND (Higher
National Diploma) offered by Edexcel Foundation U.K. which
is awarded after successful completion of the first 5
trimesters.
The admissions are conducted by IGNOU with an entrance
test. The teaching is done from Delhi to a “virtual
classroom” spread across the country. The Tele Learning
Centre at X-TECH has a direct satellite link to receive
the live video broadcast of the lecture with the audio
link to New Delhi for students’ questions on the spot.
IGNOU is the only University in India allowed by the UGC
to offer the B.I.T. degree.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Std. XII or an Engineering
Diploma from a Government recognised Board.
